St Helens Town 0-1 AFC Blackpool

AFC Blackpool manager Martin Baird, "We dominated the first half and deservedly had the lead at half time. Although we should have been more clinical in front of goal and the scoreline didn’t reflect the game we are pleased we are creating them chances if we weren’t we would be worried.

"I thought we moved the ball with a purpose in the first half in which St. Helens struggled to cope with especially our movement between the lines which was pleasing to watch. We gave two debuts yesterday and started the game with a 17 and 18-year old which was pleasing as we thought they both played well. It was great for Ryan to get his first goal for the club on his debut which no doubt he will go from strength to strength now as he just needs a belief in himself and he will repay you with his performances.

"I thought the second half was poor in terms of quality, to be honest, but at the end of the day it’s a cup game and you just want to get into the next round however that might come. For us, that’s three wins in three so we all just want to keep this going with consistency in our games going forward.

"The defence deserves massive plaudits in our recent form as we have been looking a stronger unit but that needs to be something we can rely and build on. Our attention will switch to the league starting with Atherton at home on Saturday a team who beat us in the reverse fixture at there place."

Wythenshawe Amateurs 2-1 Chadderton

Chadderton manager David Fish, "Another decent performance and disappointing result. Both Wythenshawe goals came from counter-attacks following poor decisions by us around the box. We played some decent football in what was a pretty open game and both keepers made several saves, in the quality of the chances and the saves the result was probably fair although I don't think Wythenshawe would have had many complaints had we equalised.

"We must dust ourselves down; we are out of all cup competitions and need close to maximum points from the five games in the next month if we want to keep our hopes of challenging for the top four alive."

Garstang 4-2 Steeton

Garstang manager Richard Cookney, "It was a great performance from the lads but should've been seven or eight in fairness. We conceded two sloppy goals which dampened the day slightly but overall delighted with the new lads that came in and impressed massively.

"All credit too Steeton they kept going until the end but overall I'd say we deserved the win. I just hope we can now take that performance into the next league."

Steeton manager Roy Mason, "It was a disappointing performance and we never really got going at all. Our passing and ball retention was poor and a lot of players look devoid of confidence at the moment. At 4-0 down we found a bit of fire and reduced the deficit but it was little too late.

"I was pleased with Jerry Whites performance and he’s looking like a good signing for us.

"We’ve another big game on Tuesday when we face Barnoldswick so we’ve no time to feel sorry for ourselves."

Rylands 4-3 Padiham

Rylands manager David McNabb, "I thought we were excellent for the first 80 minutes of the game and thoroughly deserved to be 4-1 up. Some of the football we played was brilliant. A couple of lapses in concentration has let Padiham back in the game and meant a twitchy last seven minutes."

Northwich Victoria 0-2 Runcorn Town

Northwich Victoria manager Steve Wilkes, "Good luck to Runcorn Town in the next round. Once again we put in poor performance, that's taking nothing away from Runcorn who thoroughly deserved the victory.

"In Craig Cairns, they've got one of the best strikers at this level and he proved that again today. We have to dust ourselves down, stop feeling sorry for ourselves and prepare right for Winsford on Tuesday night."

Runcorn Town manager Paul McManus, "Very good win for us today at Vics, a solid well performed 2-0 victory for us - the second this season against Vics. The lads performed very well as we rested a few as well and the lads who stepped in did very well which is always great for a gaffer.

"We have been saying between management we are not far away and today was another indication of what we can achieve this season."

 Abbey Hey 2-1 Bacup Borough

Abbey Hey manager Terry Hincks, "Quality first half. We dropped our standards in the second half but a win is a win. All credit to Bacup, who never stopped and caused us problems."

Bacup Borough Manager Brent Peters, "The first half there was nothing in either side, their opening goal came from nowhere. I can't comment on it as I was making notes but according to my coach it was a mess between Davison Banda and keeper Pete Monteith, their guy got in between and finished. What I did see was their second on 44 minutes which came on the second phase of a corner. We had enough men around the ball and it looked like each of those lads were stuck in quicksand. Whilst they were thinking about who should attack the ball the Abbey player did react and got his reward - never should he have got near the ball with the bodies we had around the ball.

"When we look back with a shaking head thinking how on earth have we ended up being two down at the break. At half time I tweaked our shape slightly by taking off a defensive type of player for another attacking option - I kid you not, in the first ten minutes we could and really should have turned the tie around, it should have been 4-2 to us.

"The second half was a real dominant attacking performance, we produced some excellent moves, this was typified for our goal involving Ryan Siddall. Matty Bryan who's excellent cross was met with the head of Alex Mellor pulling one back, we had what we considered to be an own goal for an equaliser but the assistant gave offside to a player to whom had not become active.

"It does not matter whether it is the league or the cup, teams want to win every game, yes we are disappointed we have gone out of the Macron Cup, but from a Manager and my coaches point of view, the manner in which we did aggressively in a positive way with sheer quality penetrating football, creating chance after chance was pleasing for us to see, we must take that second-half performance into all of our games, cut out the comedy of errors from the chuckle brothers and we will big-time kick on."

Ashton Athletic manager Dougie Pitts, "Cup games are all about getting in the hat for the next round and we are extremely pleased to do that and also to score four goals in the game for the second time this week. We were disappointed to concede two poor goals defensively: although they were well-taken goals, we feel we should be doing better to prevent them and making teams have to work harder for their goals.
"We were made to work hard for the win but we felt we controlled the game for long periods and moved the ball well, scoring some good goals. Josh Nicholson's goal to open the scoring was one that wouldn't have looked out of place in any stadium in the world and we are made up for Josh as he works so hard for the team.
"Ashton Town have a good side with a good mix of youth and experience and have been going well this season. Quite a bit was made of the game beforehand, as it was a local derby with lots of banter flying around, so we are glad to get it out of the way. "
