By Martin Fallon

Saturday was a busy day with a full set of games across all three divisions. We caught up with several NWCFL Managers after the games to give their thoughts on the games.

 Premier Division

AVRO MANAGER ALEX FROST AFTER HIS SIDES 3-0 WIN OVER WEST DIDSBURY & CHORLTON

"I am extremely happy with the result against West Didsbury but definitely so with the performance. We’ve been out of sorts a bit of late but Saturday felt like we’d got back to doing what we do well, which is solid out of possession and to be patient when we have the ball.

"I actually thought it was our best performance of the season on Saturday with a convincing scoreline against a difficult side. Every player had a great game and we executed the game plan perfectly".

NORTHWICH VICTORIA MANAGER STEVE WILKES AFTER WINNING 3-1 AT FC ISLE OF MAN

"It was a fantastic evening in the Isle of Man for all the players, staff and fans. A great way to bounce back after a couple of poor performances and results.

"I would like to add that the hospitality we have received since arriving in the Isle of Man has been unbelievable and for that I thank you all. We now move on to a tough game Wednesday night now at home to Bury AFC".

WINSFORD UNITED MANAGER LEE DUCKWORTH AFTER HIS SIDE WON 3-2 AT SQUIRES GATE

"We started fast today and gave ourselves a good cushion after going 2-0 up inside a quarter of an hour. They struggled to recover from it so full credit to the players for a well deserved three points.

"We’d played Squires Gate a few weeks ago and felt hard done too by only taking a point so it was nice to take all the points today. I thought the officials were excellent and both sides tried to play some good football in extremely difficult conditions on a very soft pitch".

WYTHENSHAWE TOWN MANAGER JAMES KINSEY AFTER HIS SIDE WON 3-1 AT AFC LIVERPOOL

"It was important we had a reaction after Thursday night. We was fortunate that we had less than 48 hours to get the opportunity to do so. I thought we was dominant from start to finish and it’s arguably the best we’ve played this season, with key players missing too.

"AFC Liverpool are third for a reason. They’re a good side but I thought we kept them quiet until added time when they got the goal. It’s just another three points though and we will look forward to the next one now".

  First Division North

ASHTON TOWN MANAGER KEV TOWEY AFTER PICKING UP A FIRST LEAGUE WIN OF THE SEASON AGAINST DARWEN

"After last week it was a fantastic reaction to what was our worst performance to date. I'm not too happy that we conceded three after taking an early lead, but the way we kept positive and bounced back to win showed the character that we have in the squad.

"I'm so pleased for the players but in particular all of the supporterswho have been so positive since we have come in. This win is for them".

GARSTANG MANAGER ZACH CLARK AFTER HIS SIDE BEAT EUXTON VILLA 4-1

"Saturday was a tremendous result against a high flying Euxton who were full of confidence after beating top of the league midweek. This result / performance has been coming for a few weeks now, in a tough run of games with numerous absentees we have put together spells of really positive play but haven’t been able to sustain for the full 90 minutes and results haven’t favoured us.

"Whereas today everything clicked, we were consistent throughout the game, despite conceding early, we showed character to turn it around and then control the tempo of the game, we dealt with the conditions better than our opponents and that was the difference today. It’s important we build momentum from this and kick on again, with some of our key players returning to the squad and now available for selection".

ILKLEY TOWN MANAGER SAM DEXTER AFTER A 4-2 WIN AT CLEATOR MOOR CELTIC

"Saturday was a tough, especially in the first half. Cleator Moor started the game really well and looked dangerous on the break. After the long trip it took us 20 minutes to get get going and we grew into the game well and not for the first time this season had another goal disallowed.

"At 2-2 at half time we knew we would create chances in the second half, we changed system slightly and made a change in the wide areas. The pitch was energy sapping but we knew our fitness levels were up to the test and our two second half goals were excellent. I can’t speak highly enough of Cleator, a warm reception and a dogged performance. I hope their fortunes turn around soon".

SOUTH LIVERPOOL MANAGER MARTIN RYMAN AFTER WINNING 5-1 AT HOME TO AFC BLACKPOOL

"I am delighted and relieved to have won on Saturday. It was our first league win of the season at home was beginning to think it would never happen! We started really slowly and had to defend a lot of set pieces which we did well but went 1-0 down courtesy of a penalty.

"After that I felt we took control of the game and deservedly went in at half time 2-1 up. We started the second half slowly again but defended really well, but once again took control of the game and deservedly came out worthy winners.

"Its a busy old November for us switching from massively important league games to three cup games as well. It will make or break our season but there is a great spirit and confidence in the dressing room at the moment. Performances and results have improved of late and the lads have responded well to the challenges put before them."

STEETON MANAGER ROY MASON AFTER HIS SIDE BEAT BACUP BOROUGH 3-1

"I didn’t think we were at our best yesterday, but we got the result I felt we deserved over the course of the game. Bacup came into the game top of the form guide but we kept them quiet for long periods which was pleasing.

"It shows the value now of football being a squad game as the substitutions we made gave us fresh impetus at a vital time and allowed us to change the formation to one that gave us a bit more width and we managed to take advantage of that with two great finishes from Arale".

  First Division South

ABBEY HULTON UNITED MANAGER RUSS LEADBETTER AFTER HIS SIDES 3-2 WIN AT ASHVILLE

"It was always going to be a tough afternoon at Ashville after they beat top of the league at home last Saturday. We knew that this was going to be a really tough afternoon but we started really well, going two goals up early on. However after that Ashville had the majority of the game in their favour.

"We gave away a daft penalty away and conceded the second goal when we had a man sin-binned. But I have to say even with the game not playing out in our favour, we made a few changes at 2-2 and it paid off with us scoring the winner in the 87th minute. Credit to the lads for sticking to it, a great result!"

CHEADLE HEATH NOMADS MANAGER JAKE DAVIES AFTER HIS SIDES FIRST LEAGUE WIN OF THE SEASON AT ELLESMERE RANGERS

"“Firstly, it’s a relief to get that first win of the season. Some of our performances have warranted much more this season, some performances have been nowhere near good enough, but the reality is we are where we are for many different reasons and we have stuck together and now we need to kick on.

"The scoreline is good reading but in all honesty we could have scored more as we’ve created lots of chances and played some good football in the right areas on a really difficult surface. Ellesmere haven’t created much and we’ve been really aggressive in getting pressure against them to stop them dropping good balls behind our back line.

"To a man today performances across the board were minimum 8/10’s. It doesn’t surprise me we’ve come away and beaten 3rd in the league to get our first win as I know how much quality we have in the team. We’ve just needed to find the right balance and start taking our opportunities. This can’t be a flash in the pan, we’ve got some season defining fixtures coming up in the next 5 games and my expectation is to still finish as a minimum in the top half of the table.”

STOCKPORT TOWN MANAGER PAUL TURNBULL AFTER HIS SIDES 1-0 WIN AT HOME TO ALSAGER TOWN

"It was a brilliant result against a resilient Alsager side,. We know what we are going to come up against week in week out now with how teams set up. They sit in deep and we have to find a way to break them down.

"We weren’t at our best but found a way to score and kept a clean sheet which is always a positive. The boys needed to remain patient in possession. We did that and found a way to score a very good goal. I’m delighted with the win which keeps us at the top of the league and we move onto Mew Mills on Saturday which is going to be a really tough place to go".
