Daisy Hill have announced the signing of striker Ryan Talbot on a two year contract.

Talbot joined the club in the summer from Little Lever FC in the Manchester League and has made an impressive start to his Daisy Hill career, with nine goals in 14 games so far.  His striking form had alerted clubs in higher leagues, and with interest growing, the club moved quickly to secure his services by making him their first ever contracted player.

Daisy manager Lee Hill said: “When we spoke to Ryan in the summer, we could see what kind of a character he was, nothing fazes him and he takes things in his stride.

“We knew he would be able to step up to this level from virtually the first time we saw him in training, we could see he was a great player.  So his progress hasn’t really surprised me.  He is an intelligent footballer, he’s not a one trick pony by any means.  He is very adaptive to those around him, he’s great in the air and his technical ability is really good.  He brings a lot to the team."

“Getting him on a contract shows that this club means business.  We don’t want to be in a position of being bullied by teams who put seven days’ notice in and offer money to move on.  It also shows to the other players that we don’t want to be in a position where other clubs come in and take our better players, as that can be quite demoralising."

“We as a management team are ambitious and the club back us in those ambitions, so getting Ryan to commit to the club is the right thing for the club to do”.

Ryan Talbot said : “Being from Little Lever and playing for them was always a privilege, but at the end of last season I was exploring new options and opportunities for myself, and it was always going to have to be something good to take me away from there.

“When I first spoke to Lee and Tom Brown and they explained to me about Daisy Hill and what they was trying to build there, I knew straight away it was something to think about.  I went to pre-season and honestly never felt more at home.  The lads in the dressing room are some of the best lads I’ve met, and are all great to be around."

“To be offered a contract at this club did take me by surprise but honestly I’m buzzing to be part of this great club for another two years.  Offers have come in from leagues above and that’s a great feeling, but Daisy feels like my new home and I’d like to say a massive thank you to Lee and Browny, the committee, and all the lads for the opportunity to play here."

"The contract is just a massive bonus on top of just being here, so I can’t thank them enough.  It’s now time to pay them back with my performances.  Hopefully, playing with the confidence that I have at the moment, I can keep scoring and creating goals to help this club climb the league and get us to where I think we should be”.
