League Statistician Kevin Lawton has dived into the stats and archives along with reviewing last weekends games, and compiled the latest set of noteable stats and milestones achieved around the NWCFL over the weekend.
Stats and Milestone Update to Saturday 28th October 2023
Overall Milestones
Colne’s defeat at Charnock Richard was their 600th in the NWCFL (from 1,409 games).
Eccleshall will want to forget their 700th league game – they lost 1-5 at home to Stafford Town.
Home Milestones
Runcorn Town’s defeat to Darwen FC was their 250th home game.
Away Milestones
Chadderton’s win at Litherland REMYCA was their 50th on the road.
Goal Heroes
Brocton’s Morgan Payne may have scored the fastest ever NWCFL hat-trick, with three goals in the opening twelve minutes as his side hammered Market Drayton 8-0. He didn’t score any of the other five ! It was his second triple in four days.
Lewis-Simon Byrne joined the ‘four goals in a game’ club for his side, Bacup Borough as they beat Route One Rovers 5-1 (it was his second hat-trick of the season)
Nathan Cliffe claimed his second triple of the season with all three of Squires Gate’s goals as they beat Skelmersdale 3-2.
Nil-Nil Notes
Steeton’s 0-0 with Holker was their first in the league since September 2019. 2 days short of 1,500 days!
League Records this season
Irlam are the only team in the Premier Division yet to taste defat at home, no sides have managed that on the road.
In the First Division North, FC St Helens are the one team without a home defeat so far, again all sides have lost at least one on the road.
In the First Division South, only Stockport Town remain unbeaten at home, while Brocton are the only team across all three divisions yet to taste defeat on the road.
