Stats and Milestone Update to Saturday 05th August 2023

League Statistician, Kevin Lawton looks at this weeks Stats and achieved Milestones around the NWCFL and takes a look at the stats from the first two weekends of league fixtures.

Overall Milestones

Alsager Town’s draw with Cammell Laird 1907 was their 850th game in the NWCFL.

Daisy Hill’s opening game of the new season was their 1,400th, whilst Darwen FC played their 450th on the same day.

New Mills reached the 500 game milestone with the midweek draw at Cheadle Heath Nomads, they also conceded their 800th goal in the game.

Ramsbottom United had to wait a few seasons, but their midweek win against FC Isle of Man was their 700th in the NWCFL.

Ashton Athletic conceded their 1,500th goal when Route One Rovers scored their second on Saturday.

Cheadle Town conceded their 2,500th goal with the midweek defeat at home to Wythenshawe.

Prestwich Heys final goal in the 3-0 win against Pilkington was their 700th.

Home Milestones

Bacup Borough suffered their 300th home defeat with the loss to Runcorn Town on Saturday

Away Milestones

Abbey Hulton played their 100th away game on the opening day at Droylsden.

Ashton Athletics’ defeat at FC St Helens was their 200th on the road.

West Didsbury and Chorlton played their 200th away game with the defeat at Wythenshawe Town

Goal Heroes

Four First Division North players have hat-tricks to their names:

Annes Younis and Zakariya Khan, both for Route One Rovers, Leon Creech (Darwen FC) and Charlie Glennon (South Liverpool)

Similarly, four in the South Division have hat-tricks:

Ben Greenop (Ashville), Jack Woolley (Alsager Town), Regan Smith (Brocton) and William Shawcross (Abbey hey).

Managers

Four managers have now been in charge for 100 games:

Matt Potter (AFC Liverpool), Lee O’Brien and James Hampson (Prestwich Heys) and Paul Marshall (Cheadle Town)

Bits and Pieces

The accolade of being the first goal scorer of the new season went to Atherton LR’s Kyle Robinson-Murray, who scored in the opening minute against Steeton.
