We have today released the fixtures for the 2020-21 North West Counties League season which commences on Saturday 3rd October 2020.  With the disappointment caused by last season's overall outcome there is a cautious optimism about the new campaign in what is a rather different sporting world since the onset of the global pandemic.

We have a slightly different line up to the league this season following AFC Emley's latteral move back over to the Northern Counties East League and the resignation of membership of FC Oswestry Town.  Our new members this season are two clubs of which surround a lot of interest in  FC Isle of Man who join Division One South and AFC Bury who we welcome into Division One North.  Bury AFC Start life in the NWCFL with a home game against Steeton whilst the Islanders are due to face Wythnehshawe Town at home.

Looking at the sides that were doing well in Premier Division during the ill-fated 2019-20 season, 1874 Northwich start at home with a mouth-watering fixture against Runcorn Town whilst Bootle open at home to local rivals Burscough.  Much fancied Warrington Rylands travel to Litherland Remyca on the Opening day whilst Whitchurch Alport are away to Padiham.  Skelmersdale United begin their first full season at their new home, at the JMO with a fixture against Longridge Town whilst Northwich Victoria travel to Charnock Richard in another cracking looking season opener.

In Division One South, Vauxhall Motors begin their campaign with a home game against Stone Old Alleynians whilst West Didsbury and Chorlton are also at home against local rivals Stockport Town.  Cheadle Town kick their season off at home to Wythenshawe Amateurs with many people fancying both of those sides to do well this season whilst another fancied side, Cammell Laird 1907 host Abbey Hulton United.

In Division One North, Lower Breck host Ashton Town with both of those clubs expected to mount a strong challenge ths campaign which makes the opener a strong way top open the season.  AFC Liverpool were also doing well during the 19-20 season and they will be hoping to repeat their good league form and they start with a tricky looking away game at Shelley FC.  St Helens Town didn't have the greatest of runs in 19-20 but they are a different prospect this season and they will travel to Chadderton for the second time in consecutive season openers whilst neighbours Pilkington FC host Holker Old Boys.

It promises to be a season of hope but it is certainly not without challenges and that is something we will be ready for if and when the need arises.  The important thing for us is to set the stage and to get things moving as safely and as organised as possible.
