NWCFL Premier Division

Burscough 3-2 Barnoldswick Town

Burscough manager Nick Matthews, "We made a few changes today in personnel, and made a big decision to recall goalkeeper Dom Garner who has been struggling to juggle work and football of late. He made a massive save at 0:1 and again from the penalty spot, just after we equalised.

"I thought the lads worked hard for each other, and I think they fed off the energy from the stands. We have not given the fans much to sing about at home since Rylands at the end of August, but they spared the boys on today and kept us going for the 94 minutes and I am glad the boys did enough to send them all home happy.

"We need to build on that today. I said weeks ago that performances had improved, but we needed to pick up three points. Barlick are great going forward but the lads defended well at times and put their bodies on the line. Some big performances from a number of the lads today, but credit to striker Nathan Martland who has had a fair share of bad luck throughout pre-season and the start of this, his work-rate matched his attitude, he was immense and deserved the hat-trick.

"Back to training on Tues and let's see if we can move up the table."

Congleton Town 2-3 Squires Gate

Squires Gate manager Luke Evans, "An excellent result and well deserved from our second-half performance. We have our keeper Jordan Gidley to thank for still being in the game at that point. From the second half onwards there was only one team in the game and 3-2 was no more than we deserved.

"Great to see Jack Iley open his account for the club and James Boyd rewarded for his hard work. We need to use this performance as a platform and get ourselves up this table and away from trouble."

NWCFL First Division South

Stone Old Alleynians 2-1 Barnton

Stone Old Alleynians manager Wayne Brotherton, "First half we weren't very good and Barnton deserved to in front at half time. In the second half, we were a lot better and the hard work we put in won us the game."

Cammell Laird 1907 2-3 Stockport Town

Cammell Laird manager Phil Burton, "For 30 minutes we looked ok and in good offensive shape. But lack of leadership on the pitch cost us. Second half we just didn't come out.

"Stockport deserved the win based on their second-half performance with 11 players wanting it more than us. That's 8 winning positions we have thrown away in all competitions which is a frustration."

Stockport Town new manager Adam Jones, "Where do I start!? 2-0 down away from home against Scousers I was thinking 'what have I done here?'. Then suddenly we clicked into gear the players took on the new system and style of play and I thought we dominated the game scoring 3 unbelievable goals and deservedly winning 3-2 and collecting 3 points!

"I didn't think you could get a better feeling than winning a game as a player but today the boys proved me wrong! Welcome to management!"

Eccleshall 3-2 St Martins

Eccleshall manager Kyle Adams, "We're pleased with the win but we certainly made hard work of it. Despite St Martins' recent results, we knew they were a better side than that and they showed that in parts of the game. We just did enough first half to be in front but we were nowhere near our best. We spoke at half time about improving the quality on the ball and playing quicker and we did that to get a third goal just after the break.

"After that though we took our foot off the gas and just coasted really. It should've been game over but we've gifted them what we thought was a consolation late on. They've scored a second immediately and come at us so we've had to dig in for the last five minutes to see it out. Credit to the lads though because it's an area of our game that we've improved.

"In the last week, we've probably put in two sub-standard performances and picked up 6 points. Our best performance by far was the game where we were beaten. At the end of the day, it's all about getting those points on the board but we know performances have to improve in the long run for that to keep happening."
