The midweek NWCFL started on Monday evening with just one game in the NWCFL First Division North between Daisy Hill and Lower Breck - and what a game it was - 6-0 to the visitors went left Bolton very happy with all three points.

Just 24 hours later, in the NWCFL top flight, a double from Carl Grimshaw secured a 2-0 win for Charnock Richard over Padiham, whilst in the other game, 119 fans watched Ashton Athletic defeat Northwich Victoria 3-1 at Downall Green - Chris Bandell grabbing a brace on a chilly night.

In the First Division North, the big winners of the night were AFC Liverpool who defeated bottom side Steeton 8-0 - the third time Chris Anderson's side has netted eight in one game. Whilst, Bacup Borough secured a 4-2 win at home against Holker Old Boys - Joel Gnabouyou netting a hat-trick, St Helens Town defeated Shelley 2-0 on the road and Atherton LR and Cleator Moor Celtic had to settle for a point each following their 2-2 draw at Spa Road.

Four games took place in the First Division South on Tuesday with slender wins for both Vauxhall Motors and Barnton - both winning 1-0 away at Wythenshawe Town and Sandbach United respectively. Whilst Ellesmere Rangers recorded their first win of the season defeated 18th placed New Mills 2-0, meanwhile an injury-time Callum Hulmston goal secured a precious point for Cammell Laird 1907 at home against Cheadle Heath Nomads - the game ending 1-1.

In the Macron Cup 2nd Round, 1874 Northwich advanced following a 4-0 win over Irlam and Wythenshawe Amateurs defeated Cheadle Town 3-2 securing their third-round status.

Lastly, for Tuesday, Hanley Town exited the Lancashire Challenge Trophy with a 4-1 defeat to Southern League Premier Division Central side Rushall Olympic.

Wednesday evening saw just the single game, with FC Oswestry Town narrowly winning 1-0 at Shawbury United in the Commander Ethelston Charity Cup 1st Round.

Last night, all three games went ahead, the first matchday for a week without a postponement. Lower Breck ran out 5-2 winners over Golcar United to stretch their lead at the summit to four points. Meanwhile, Atherton LR played their second game of the midweek and narrowly lost 2-1 to Ashton Town - the winning goal coming from the penalty spot in the 88th minute.

Whilst in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy 2nd Round Wythenshawe Amateurs (also playing for the second time this midweek) advanced as they defeated Daisy Hill 4-1 at M22 - a couple of late goals putting gloss to the scoreline.

The action returns on Friday evening with Bacup Borough entertaining Chadderton in the NWCFL First Division North before a whole host of games, 25 in fact, across several Cup competitions and division - an exciting prospect indeed.
