The draw for the Fourth and Final Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup has been released.
Having started with 23 clubs in the Extra Preliminary Round, we are now down to just one Premier Division sides who are still involved.
Details of the draw are below that involve NWCFL sides are below:
THE EMIRATES FA CUP FOURTH QUALIFYING ROUND
SATURDAY 12th OCTOBER 2024
WINNING CLUB TO RECEIVE £9,375 LOSERS RECEIVE £3,150
Harborough Town v Bury
Bury are once again just 90 minutes away from a place in the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, and they will have to overcome Harborough Town to make it following today's draw.
The Fourth Round Proper is where teams from the National League enter, yet its a great draw for Bury with Harborough playing in the Southern League Premier Division Central, the same level as the top division of the Northern Premier League.
Harborough lie 15th in their division, with just two wins from their opening nine games. They have scored just 8 league goals so far, although they are tight at the back having only conceded 9 goals. They have reached this stage by beating Darlaston Town 1874 after a replay and then Stourbridge, before a win over National League North side Leamington on Saturday.
They play just outside Market Harborough, which is around 17 miles south of Leicester. Last season they played in the Northern Premier League Midland division, where a six point deduction cost them both the league title and runners-up spot. They eventually won the play-offs, and in the summer were laterally moved to the Southern League.
Despite being formed in 1975, they have spent much of their time in county football, and were only promoted to the National League System in 2010. This is their best ever FA Cup run, having previously reached only the Second Qualifying Round. They have played a NWCFL once before, that in the 2021/22 FA Vase when they won 7-1 away at Prestwich Heys.
For Bury, this is the second time in recent years that they have reached the Final Qualifying Round, having lost out to York City 2-1 in the 2022/23 season. The Shakers are one of only two sides from Step 5 of the Non-League Pyramid who are still in the FA Cup, the other being Midland League side Shifnal Town who face a replay against Hednesford Town to reach the Final Qualifying Round.
The tie will be played on Saturday 12th October 2024.
