Isuzu FA Vase - Draw for the Fourth Round Proper
Mon 4th December 2023 | FA Challenge Vase | By Martin Fallon
The draw has been made for the Fourth Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Vase.
Six of our sides are still in the competition, with all of them suffering from frozen pitches at the weekend in their Third Round ties. These have all all been rearranged for next Saturday.
Ties involving our sides
The Fourth Round Proper is the last 32 of the competition. Despite it being a national competition, there are still three different "zones" at this stage, and with the NWCFL being a northern zone, all six of our remaining clubs are in that zone.
First out of the hat was Ramsbottom United or Hallam from the Northern Counties East. The winners of that will be at home in the Fourth Round to either Northern League side Newcastle University or former NWCFL side Silsden who now play in the Northern Counties East. Newcastle have previously knocked out Kendal Town and Atherton LR from the Vase this season, whilst Silsden beat Abbey Hey in the Second Round.
Irlam face Northern League side Whickham in the Third Round and if they win that then they will be heading back up to the North East in the Fourth Round against either Blyth Town or Bishop Auckland. Both of these have played NWCFL sides in the Second Round, with Blyth beating AFC Liverpool at home and Bishop Auckland winning at Stockport Georgians.
We could have an all-NWCFL clash in the Fourth Round, with West Didsbury & Chorlton potentially facing fellow Premier Division side Charnock Richard. Both teams though will have to win their Third Round games next Saturday, with both facing opposition that have previously been in the NWCFL. Last season's Quarter Finalists West Didsbury & Chorlton travel to Emley, with Charnock heading to Carlisle City.
And it could be yet another former NWCFL side who face the winners of the the big clash between Ashville and South Liverpool. The victors in that will be at home to either Northern Counties East League side Lincoln United or Midland League side Congleton Town.
