NWCFL Premier Division
Ashton Athletic | 1-0 | Irlam |
Ashton Athletic manager Dougie Pitts, "Very pleased to come away with the three points today against a good Irlam side. To restrict them to a few half chances and keep a clean sheet is especially pleasing as we know how good they are going forward.
"If we had taken our chances we could have been more comfortable in the game but their keeper has made several good saves and we had one cleared off the line.
"Hopefully we can push on now and keep in touch with the top four or five teams that are up there."
Avro | 0-1 | Rylands |
Rylands manager David McNabb, I thought it was a hard-earned win against a very strong Avro side. Both teams missed two or three chances first half but somehow we went in 0-0.
"Second half I thought we slightly edged it until the goal but it was a real 50-50 game. The lads defended brilliantly to see the game out when Avro pushed us to the limit in the last 15 minutes.
"A great game by two committed teams who tried to play the right way. Good luck to Avro for the rest of the season."
Barnoldswick Town | 4-8 | 1874 Northwich |
Barnoldswick Town manager Endrit Shehu," Very disappointing performance from start to finish. We didn’t work hard enough and were second best to everything. Credit to Northwich 1874 for their performance. Fully deserved the win and played some great football.
"All we can do now is to move on quickly and focus on the next game."
1874 Northwich manager Wayne Goodison," Delighted to pick up another three points at a place we have struggled in the past. Our attacking play at times was outstanding though Barlick never stopped working hard and punished our mistakes.
"Happy for the effort the players have put in to get themselves to this point if the season and in contention at the top end of the table."
Burscough | 0-5 | Bootle |
Burscough manager Nick Matthews," Disappointed in the final score, that is for sure. I thought we competed well for over an hour, but as soon as Bootle scored their second via the Pen spot; we seemed to fall into the bad habits of a few months ago.
"Bootle was the better side on the day, we need to regroup and go and put in a strong performance in our next game on Boxing Day, not better game of putting things right than in a local Derby."
Longridge Town | 4-3 | Hanley Town |
Longridge Town manager Lee Ashcroft, "Not at our best but we got the three points and that’s what counts. Credit to Hanley, who kept going and were never out of the game. I thought their keeper was outstanding, but we’ve scored four at home again and this is a big month for us in the League."
Squires Gate | 2-1 | Charnock Richard |
Squires Gate manager Luke Evans," We knew what we were going to be up against today as Charnock is a very good team and they came with the game we expected. They made us fight and scrap for everything and I felt we did that adequately enough to take the 3 points. We are on a great run at the minute and I feel that we are a match for any team in this division.
"We look forward now to another tough game on Boxing Day. I am proud of every one of my players and staff."
Charnock Richard manager Ryan Donnellan," I think a draw would have been a fair result today, it was an evenly balanced game with little chances."
