Club of the Month October 2022

There has been a feast of football in October, with clubs starting their Macron Cup and Edward Case Cup journeys. A healthy number of league clubs remain in the Isuzu FA Vase, with County Cups offering another competition for most clubs.
As usual there have been some great performances from clubs, and we are delighted to confirm our Club of the Month winners for October 2022.
The league have a formula to work out our Club of the Month based on whether games were home and away and the quality of the opposition. October winners were are as follows:.
Premier Division - Wythenshawe Town
It was another strong month for Bury AFC who had a cup upset over Clitheroe amongst their results. AFC Liverpool and Squires Gate both did well, picking up 14 points from 6 games for a 2.33 average. However pipping them both to the accolade to win their second successive award is Wythenshawe Town.
The month started with a draw at Vauxhall Motors in the top of the table clash, followed by four convincing home wins with 14 goals scored. Two successive 2-2 draws followed at Padiham and at home to FC Isle of Man, before they ended the month with another home win against Prestwich Heys.

First Division North - Bacup Borough
Four teams scored over three point averages in the First Division North. FC St Helens had 19 points from 6 games for a 3.17 average with Holker Old Boys having 16 points from 5 games for a 3.2 average. Pilkington went even better, with 21 points from their 6 games, however the winners this month were Bacup Borough, who win Club of the Month for the first time since April 2019!
It was a case of five games and five victories for Brent Peters' men. They started with a 3-2 win over Cleator Moor Celtic in the league and then repeated the feat the following week in the Edward Case Cup. A 1-0 win at Ilkley Town followed in the Macron Cup, followed by two good away wins, at Campion in the FA Vase and Darwen in the league.

First Division South - Cheadle Town
There were a number of top perforners in the month including Stockport Georgians who got 17 points from 6 games and New Mills with 16 points from 5 games. But the winners this month once more were Cheadle Town…
They beat Rocester 7-2 in the league before a 4-3 win at Sandbach United in the Edward Case Cup. A 6-1 victory over Rocester in the Macron Cup was followed by a 4-2 win at Barton Town in the FA Vase who play one division higher in the NCEL Premier Division. A 3-1 win at Foley Meir made it five successive wins, and despite a loss at Wythenshawe Amateurs in the final game, they topped the averages for the month.
