Matty Bryan of Wythenshawe Town has been presented with his Player of the Month award.

League Results Co-ordinator Ken Stephenson visited Matty at a recent Wythenshawe Town game to present him with his award.

The striker had a fine month in November and picked up the award for the second time. His first was back in April 2018 when he won it at Bacup Borough. This is what was said about him when the announcement was made.

PREMIER DIVISION - MATTHEW BRYAN (WYTHENSHAWE TOWN)

November has been a fruitful month for Wythenshawe Town and for their leading scorer Matty Bryan in a period that has seen the club move to the top of the league for the first time. The club suffered an early setback at Lower Breck but soon hit back with a 3-1 victory away at third-placed AFC Liverpool. Bryan scored his first goals of the month with a double that carved the way for the victory. This was also the match that saw them reach the top of the league.

A difficult FA Vase tie against Eccleshill United saw Bryan’s goal take them to ninety minutes with honours even but the penalty shoot-out saw their opponents go into the hat for the next round. A goal from the striker against Barnoldswick Town did not prove enough as Wythenshawe went down to their first home league defeat of the season. However, once again they came back with a vengeance, knocking AF Liverpool out of the Macron Cup with Bryan scoring one of the goals in a 5-1 victory.

Greater things were to come when Wythenshawe outplayed and outscored Northern Premier League Premier Division FC United of Manchester 3-1 in the Frank Hannah Manchester Premier Cup in front of 511 fans. Needless to say, it was a strike from Matty that set them on the road to victory. The campaign ended for the month with a visit to Ashton Athletic where another Matty Bryan double put them on the way to a 7-1 victory.

Off the field Matty has an important role training youngsters with his “FootyTotz” school in Salford where there are currently over 500 youngsters learning the basics of the beautiful game.

Well done Matty!
