Skelmersdale midfielder Elliot Morris has been awarded the joint Premier Division Player of the Season award following a stellar season which saw him pick up 11 Man of the Match awards and help his side gain promotion to the Northern Premier League.

With 23 goals in all competitions, Morris joined the Lancashire side in August from Warrington Rylands and has wasted no time making a standout impact in a hugely talented side. Having played a key role throughout the campaign, he was part of the team which won the inter-step play-off away at Cinderford Town in April to gain promotion back to the NPL after three seasons away.

On his award, Morris said:

“I’m delighted to have won Player of the Season for the North West Counties Premier Division. I’m playing with and against so many talented players so to pick up this award means an awful lot.

“Obviously we have had a special season and gained promotion to the NPL which is huge for the club, and I personally feel it’s back where it belongs. The squad Paul and the management team have assembled this season is a very special group. As I’ve said I’m over the moon personally but this for me is also a credit to the management, rest of the players, fans and everyone associated with Skelmersdale United!”

And on turning attentions to next year, he added:

"It’s safe to say I’m ready for a well-deserved holiday like everyone else, but I’m already putting the work in and raring to go next season and I know the rest of the lads are!

“I’d also like to say a big thankyou to everyone associated with the NWCFL.”
