JT Makes his PNE Debut
Thu 19th August 2021 | AFC Blackpool | By Gary Langley
Former AFC Blackpool Player, Jamie Thomas has just recently made his First Team debut for Preston North End in the EFL Championship. It marks the continuation of a rapid rise to prominence for Jamie, writes Adam Gee at AFC Blackpool.
Jamie came to the North West Counties to play for AFC Blackpool in 2018 after starting his football career with the Blackpool FC academy, before moving on to Bolton Wanderers, where he was on their books for 5 years, being involved in their Championship campaign, and achieving 9 caps for the Wales under 19's. After leaving Bolton, Jamie secured another professional contract with Burnley FC when he was just 19. Unfortunately, Jamie was released at 21 and found himself without a club.
AFC Blackpool manager Martin Baird could see the potential that Jamie had to offer and he took him under his wing as a player for AFC Blackpool and as an employee in his electrical contractor company EMB Electrical.
Jamie had 2 very successful seasons with AFC Blackpool and in the lockdown period, moved to local Northern Premier League side Bamber Bridge. Whilst at Brig, Jamie was part of the team who played Preston North End in a pre-season friendly, scoring twice for Bamber Bridge. The PNE staff were so impressed by Jamie's performance that he was offered a trial in another PNE pre-season friendly. After this, Jamie was offered a 12 month contract with the Championship side and has already made an appearance for North End in this season's Championship campaign.
