History

The club was founded in 1950 as Old Wellingtonians before becoming Wellington Amateurs F.C. After success in the Wellington League, they joined the Shropshire County Football League in 1981, winning the league and cup double in their first season. Further titles followed, leading to promotion into the West Midlands (Regional) League, where they continued to win multiple championships.

In 2022, the club lifted the Shropshire Challenge Cup, and in 2023 launched a development side, AMS FC. In 2024, businessman Hayden Dando took over and rebranded the club as Telford Town FC, with immediate success including the Powell Cup and a record‑breaking women’s team season.

The 2024/25 campaign delivered a historic treble: the WMRL Premier Division, Powell Cup, and Shropshire Challenge Cup. By 2025, the club had expanded to over 30 teams and hosted its first major junior tournament.

In 2026, Jonathan Stone joined as joint co‑owner, supporting the club’s continued growth across senior, women’s, and youth football.
