After tomorrows NWCFL Premier Division game against 1874 Northwich, Luke Goddard will be stepping down as manager of Whitchurch Alport after 42 months in charge at the club as he concenstrates on all the other important roles he has at the club.

Goddard wrote in a statement, "After 42 months at Whitchurch Alport as manager and managing for the past 10 years since I was 19 I’ve decided tomorrow will be my last game in charge as a manager. I have achieved some unbelievable memories especially in the last three years at this club I have made my life.

"With so much pressure on what has been built here it is no longer fair on myself or the club to try carry out the roles I do day in day out, many no one sees. Something has to give and in bringing Matt Burton as manager with the current awesome staff the Club is now in great hands to carry on this journey.

"I shall be still hanging around to continue the work off the field along with my good friends Ryan Jardine and Johnny Allman to give this club a strong foundation. I will also still be offering my services to play until the end of the season to try help continue the good start we have had.

"I just felt it’s necessary for everyone to give clarity so for the good of the club we can all move on. A huge thank you to all the players past & present that have played under me, and of course to the brilliant #RedArmy for their overwhelming support! Let’s stick together & help this club on further."

Matt Burton will now be in sole charge after tomorrow with his first game in charge being on Monday 9th December against Litherland REMYCA.
