This afternoon, at Charnock Richard's Mossie Park, league representatives John Deal and Geoff Wilkinson conducted the semi-final draws for the Macron Cup, and the Edward Case Cup.
They were aided by Charnock Richard chairman Shaun Tootle, who drew the home teams, and Maghull chairman Ron Young, who drew the away teams.
Firstly, was the draw for the Macron Cup semi-finals:
- AFC Blackpool VS Stafford Town
- Charnock Richard VS Barnton
First Division North side AFC Blackpool were the victors what will surely be looked back on as the Game of the Round, winning 4-3 on penalties after a 4-4 draw against Premier Division side Chadderton. First Division South title chasers Stafford Town, who pulled off the second extra-time winner in the Macron Cup this weekend, snatching a 2-1 win against Premier Division Ramsbottom United, await them early next month.
Premier Division Charnock Richard, who battered First Division North side Maghull 5-1 at home this afternoon, will be hosting their game for a chance at the final. First Division South side Barnton netted a last-minute goal to secure 3-2 victory over Premier Division high-flyers Lower Breck on Valentine's Day night. They've been rewarded with another game against higher-league opposition, on the road to Charnock.
The scheduled date for these games will be Saturday, April 5th, but the date for Charnock Richard’s hosting of Barnton will be decided at a later time.
Secondly, there was the draw for the Edward Case Cup semi-finals:
- Stafford Town VS Ashville
- Holker Old Boys VS Atherton LR
Stafford Town's cup successes have continued in the ECC, with their impressive 7-4 defeat of Maghull earlier this month. For their efforts, they will now play host to Ashville, who squeezed past Euxton Villa on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the quarter final.
Elsewhere, Holker Old Boys, who won away from home in the quarters against Abbey Hulton United, will host their semi-final match. They'll be welcoming First Division North title challengers Atherton LR, who brushed Cheadle Heath Nomads aside 4-0 at the start of February.
The scheduled date for these games will be Saturday, March 15th.
