We were delighted to catch up recently with Lower Breck, winners of the Premier Division Club of the Month award for December 2024.
Manager Gary Moore and Coach Mikey Richards are pictured receiving the award from League Chairman Paul Lawler who carried out the presentation on behalf of the League Committee.
This is only the second time that they have won Club of the Month and their first in the Premier Division, with their last coming in February 2020 when they were in the First Division North. Breck won all three games that they played in the month, scoring 11 goals and conceding just the one.
They started the month with a morale boosting 3-0 win at home to Northern Premier League side Marine in the Liverpool Senior Cup. Daniel Lowey put them ahead midway through the first half with two second half goals from Samuel Burns putting them through to the Quarter Finals.
Next up was Nelson at home in the Third Round of the Macron Cup with Breck winning 5-1. Jesse Dowling and Samuel Burns put them 2-0 ahead inside the first 10 minutes, with Lewis Buckley scoring either side of the break to double the lead. Nelson pulled one back with Owen Collinge sealing the win in the 81st minute.
The final game was also at home, this time against FC Isle of Man on the Saturday before Christmas. Samuel Burns and Elliot Hughes scored early goals to put Breck in control, with a Tom Douglas goal with seven minutes remaining securing the win.
Those results gave Lower Breck 10 points from their 3 games for a 3.33 average.
The closest challengers were Charnock Richard and Ramsbottom United, with West Didsbury & Chorlton also having a good month.
Total Games played in the Month: 3
Total Points won in the Month: 10
Average: 3.33
