December 2024 Club of the Month

We are delighted to confirm our Club of the Month winners for December 2024.

The league have a formula to work out our Club of the Month based on whether games were home and away and the quality of the opposition. November winners were are as follows:.


Premier Division - Lower Breck

Winning the Premier Division award for December 2024 is Lower Breck. This is only the second time that they have won Club of the Month and their first in the Premier Division, with their last coming in February 2020 when they were in the First Division North.

Breck won all three games that they played in the month, scoring 11 goals and conceding just the one.  

They started the month with a morale boosting 3-0 win at home to Northern Premier League side Marine in the Liverpool Senior Cup. Daniel Lowey put them ahead midway through the first half with two second half goals from Samuel Burns putting them through to the Quarter Finals.

Next up was Nelson at home in the Third Round of the Macron Cup with Breck winning 5-1. Jesse Dowling and Samuel Burns put them 2-0 ahead inside the first 10 minutes, with Lewis Buckley scoring either side of the break to double the lead. Nelson pulled one back with Owen Collinge sealing the win in the 81st minute.

The final game was also at home, this time against FC Isle of Man on the Saturday before Christmas. Samuel Burns and Elliot Hughes scored early goals to put Breck in control, with a Tom Douglas goal with seven minutes remaining securing the win. 

Those results gave Lower Breck 10 points from their 3 games for a 3.33 average.

The closest challengers were Charnock Richard and Ramsbottom United, with West Didsbury & Chorlton also having a good month.

First Division North - Darwen 

Club of the Month in the First Division North is Darwen, who have won this award for the first time since November 2014! 

Darwen were the only team in the division to win all of the games that they played, picking up two home and one away wins, scoring seven goals and conceding just one.

They started December with a 2-0 away win at Garstang. Jayden Major put them ahead just after half time with Connor Hughes securing the win with the second goal of the game in stoppage time.

Next up was a superb 4-1 home win against Euxton Villa on Boxing Day, with Connor Hughes scoring a hat-trick in that game. He scored midway through each half before adding a third just before the full time whistle. Charlie Lloyd got the other goal just after the half hour mark.

The final game of the month came two days later when they beat Bacup Borough 1-0, Jayden Major scoring the only goal of the game with 20 minutes to go.

That gave them 10 points from their 3 games for a 3.33 average.

Atherton LR and Daisy Hill ran Darwen close, but were let down by dropped points in an otherwise unbeaten month. Three teams did not play the required three games to be considered.

First Division South - Cheadle Heath Nomads 

The winner of the Club of the Month in the First Division South are Cheadle Heath Nomads, who won this award for the second time, the last coming in March 2019.

Cheadle Heath had an emphatic month, winning all three of their games, two away from home. They scored 11 goals in these games and condeded five.

They started the month with a 3-2 away win at Wolverhampton Sporting Community where they fell behind early on. Two goals from Edson Cata turned the game around and they led 2-1 at the break. Wolves equalised with a penalty eight minutes from time, but Alex May restored the lead four minutes later to give his side the win.

Next was an emphatic 6-2 win at home to New Mills on Boxing Day. Alex May put them ahead early on with the Millers quickly levelling before scoring another just before the break to lead at half time. Another from Alex May just after the hour brought the scores level, and seven minutes later it was 4-2 with Daniel Lewis and Edson Cata adding further goals. Two more goals from Matthew Sumner in the last ten minutes gave the scoreline a one sided look.

The final game for Cheadle Heath in December came two days later when they travelled to Barnton, their 2-1 win extending their winning run to four games. It was an early start, with Barnton taking the lead after just five minutes and Alex May levelling three minutes later. We then had to wait until SEVEN minutes into stoppage time for the Cheadle winner, that coming through Harrison Cunningham. 

Closest to them was Abbey Hulton United, who also won all of their games, as well as Stafford Town who had an unbeaten month in the four games that they played. Again four teams did not play the required three games to be considered.
