Quotes from the Weekend: Matchweek 18

Despite a subdued number of NWCFL fixtures from across this past weekend, there was still scope to speak to a few club managers for their opinions on what their teams produced in their 90 minutes.
Premier Division:
Gary Moore, of Lower Breck (Lower Breck 4-3 Bury)
"I'm absolutely delighted with the performance from our lads against a very good side who have been flying in the league this season.
"The performance was similar to what we have been producing over the last four or five games, and on another day we could have scored a few more. But to a man, they were outstanding, and despite the late goals we conceded, we were very good value for the win and a massive three points.I
"In my opinion, it will take some side to stop Bury winning the league this season. They're a top quality side, but we have shown the others that it can be done, and it now it's over to the rest of the teams in the league to go and try to take points off them."
Paul Turnbull, of Stockport Town (Stockport Town 2-1 AFC Liverpool)
“AFC Liverpool took the lead with a great strike from 25 yards. The conditions were awful, and we had our backs to goal with wind and rain on our faces. We held firm until half time, and we were happy going into the second half at just 1-0 down, because we knew we w=could create chances with the conditions now in our favour.
“We started really well and moved the ball quickly in the second, switching the play and, despite not really creating too much, we looked more likely to get the next goal. We prodded and prodded until the end and got our just reward, with two late goals from George Omokua. Personally, over the 90 minutes, I thought we deserved to win the game.”
First Division North:
Matty Atherton, of Euxton Villa (Euxton Villa 2-0 Nelson)
"It’s fair to say that, when waking up at 7am to Storm Bert, I did wonder whether having an artificial pitch would be a blessing or a curse in those conditions! Thankfully, the storm relented as 3pm rolled round and actually led to an excellent surface with a zip that encouraged both teams to try and play fast football.
"Facing Nelson, we knew all about their goal-scoring threat and spoke a lot about the need to stay disciplined from the first to the last minute. Following a disappointing midweek result in the Lancashire Cup, it was clear from the outset that our effort levels had redoubled. We made a fantastic start to the game and were good value for our lead at half time.
"Possibly the most pleasing though was how we came out in the second half to continue taking the game to Nelson and being aggressive, which ultimately led to our second goal on the hour mark.
"Even when we went down to 10 men, we still looked assured and composed both in attack and defence to see the game out, and credit must also go to all the subs who came on to play their part. It was also great to see Ollie making a fantastic one-on-one save late in the game to maintain the clean sheet after having a fairly quiet afternoon.
"All in all, it was a very good all-round performance from the players, which solidifies our playoff position and allows us to look forward to the games leading up to Christmas. We're still in the Macron Cup and Edward Case Cup too!"
First Division South:
Dan Dawson, of Market Drayton Town (Alsager Town 0-5 Market Drayton Town)
"Firstly, I just want to applaud the Alsager Town ground staff for getting the pitch fit for the game. They did an absolutely incredible job, given the conditions!
"As for the game itself, our players put on a brilliant performance. We dominated the game from start to finish and, in reality, could have probably scored a few more than we did on another day! We are starting to put together a great sequence of results recently, and we will work as hard as we can to make sure that continues!"
