Matthew Hearsey receives his second Player of the Month Award

Stafford Town's Matthew Hearsey was presented with his second First Division South Player of the Month award of the season prior to last Saturday's game against Winsford United. League Ambassador Andrew Reid is pictured carrying out the presentation on behalf of the league.
Matthew was the winner of this award September 2024 after also winning it in July/August, becoming only the third player to retain it since the First Division South was created in 2018/19 season. Unlike July/August though, Stafford only had four games in the September, but Matthew scored four goals in those games and picked up Man of the Match in each match he played.
His first game of the month came away at Cheadle Heath Nomads. With the game delicately poised at 1-0, Matthew converted from a corner to double his sides lead and ease the pressure on his team, with Stafford going on to win 3-1. Next came an away game at Foley Meir, where he set up the opener after a driving run into the box saw his shot saved, with teammate Patryk Mazurkiewicz tapping home. He then added his sides third with a tap in just before half time with his tenth goal of the season.
The FA Vase at Sutton United was Stafford's third game, a tough game that ended 1-1 with Stafford exiting on penalties. However the fourth goal was a five-star performance at home to Cammell Laird 1907 with Matthew in blistering form. He set up the first for Mazurkiewicz with a superb cross from the right, then added two goals himself within the first four minutes of the second half.
To summarise, another four games and four goals for Matthew. Perhaps its Stafford's opponents though who pass the ultimate judgement on Matthew's form. To the end of September, he has played in 12 league games, and picked up their nomination for Man of the Match in nine of them. Outstanding.
Congratulations Matthew!
