Maine Road's Alex Panter was recently presented with his First Division North Player of the Month award winner for September 2024.

The award was presented to attacking midfielder Alex at a recent home game by the League Fixture Secretary Jeff Voller.

Alex is having his first taste of football at this level, having joined Maine Road from Poynton in the Cheshire League at the start of the season. He has been involved in every one of Maine Road's games this season and is one of the main reasons that the club are doing so well in the First Division North after their lateral move in the summer.

The first game of September for Alex came at Skelmersdale United where he scored his team's third and fourth goals in a 6-0 win. His performance in this game led to Skem awarding Alex with their Man of the Match nomination after the game.

Next up was a trip to AFC Blackpool, where Alex again put his side ahead. He put in another good performance with Maine Road winning 3-0. His third game of the month was against Winsford United in the FA Vase, a day to forget for the club who found themselves 3-0 down at half time, although Alex scored yet again just before the hour to give his side some hope.

Alex then made it five goals in four games as he put his side ahead with the opening goal of the game away at Holker Old Boys. Maine Road though went on to lose the game 3-2 in stoppage time. The final game of the month was a Macron Cup tie against Stockport Town, Alex putting in another great performance with his side coming from 4-1 down to make it 4-3 before ultimately losing 5-4.

Congratulations once again to Alex for a great month, with five goals in five games and a Man of the Match performance in only his second month in the league.
