We were delighted to catch up last Saturday with Holker Old Boys, winners of the First Division North Club of the Month award for September 2024.
The Management Team at Holker Old Boys are pictured receiving the award from League Vice Chairman Geoff Wilkinson who carried out the presentation on behalf of the League Committee.
Holker had two away games to start the month with a 4-2 win at Darwen and a 5-2 win at Steeton. They then travelled up to the North East in the Isuzu FA Vase to Crook Town, who play in the top tier of the Northern League so one league above Holker. It finished goalless, with Holker losing 4-2 on penalties.
With a lack of midweek football due to just 18 clubs in the league, they then entertained on the final Saturday of the month, winning 3-2 thanks to Luke Davey's stoppage time winner.
Last month's winner Atherton LR ran Holker close, with an away draw at Ashton Town and three good home wins. Ashton Atheltic also had a good month, with three home wins in the league but defeat in the Isuzu FA Vase at Wombwell Town.
Congrations to everyone at the club!
