Ben Barnes Receives his Reusch UK Goalkeeper of the Month Award
Thu 19th September 2024 | League Awards | By Martin Fallon
Last weekend saw League Vice Chairman Geoff Wilkinson travel to Skelmersdale United to catch up with the Reusch UK First Division North Goalkeeper of the Month award winner for July/August 2024.
It's fair to say that Skem have struggled since relegation last season, with eight losses in their opening ten league games. They also conceded a whopping 29 goals in July and August, however Ben Barnes was a worthy winner of the Goalkeeper of the Month award.
Ben picked up an impressive five Man of the Match awards from those ten league games, with the panel opting for Ben on the basis that if he has been good enough to impress the opposition most matches, its hard to ignore for the league award!
The two games in July saw him win Man of the Match against both Atherton LR and Darwen. Into August and a third successive Man of the Match win came against Ashton Athletic. He also picked up MoM in Skem's games away at AFC Blackpool and Droylsden.
Ben is pictured receiving the award from Geoff, who carried out the presentation on behalf of the League and our sponsors Reusch UK. Ben recieves a pair of Goalkeeper Gloves from one of Reuch UK's leading range of Goalkeeper products.
Congrations again Ben!
