It is a disease that is particularly close for the five walkers, as well as all supporters of Longridge Town, who will also be doing the journey in memory of George Melling and Barry Ollerton.
Barry worked for Longridge main sponsor SWC for many years and was a regular in Wilfrid’s Club. He battled MND for 8 years and was an extremely popular lad.
George was an ex-Longridge Town captain who played for numerous other NWCFL clubs. George's fight was quite high profile on TV, Radio and written media, with a lot of messages from high profile footballers and sportspeople.
