Club of the Month July/August 2024

We are delighted to confirm our Club of the Month winners for July/August 2024.

The league have a formula to work out our Club of the Month based on whether games were home and away and the quality of the opposition. July/August winners were are as follows:.

Premier Division - Bury

It was a strong month in the Premier Division with lots of games for all clubs. Chadderton and AFC Liverpool both did well in the month, however coming up top was Bury.

They played ten games in the month and had an unbeaten start to the season. After drawing their opener they had two away wins, one coming against a team from the NPL in Congleton Town. They then drew against Irlam before finishing the month with six successive victories.

Two of those were again against teams from the NPL, with victories at Avro and Garforth Town. They also progressed in the FA Vase with a win against Maghull, and had league victories over Abbey Hey, AFC Liverpool and Cheadle Town. 

That gave them 38 points from their 10 games for a whopping 3.80 average.

First Division North - Atherton LR

Club of the Month in the First Division North was a close run thing for a number of clubs but coming out on top was Atherton LR.

Droylsden and Holker Old Boys both had decent months, whilst Nelson won nine out of eleven games, only dropping points to the aforementioned two teams. 

Atherton LR won three and drew one of their opening four games, with victories at Skem and Ashton Athletic and at home to Garstang, plus a goalless draw at Droylsden. They then lost away at Euxton Villa before going nap for the rest of the month, winning their last six games and scoring 15 goals in the process.

They won by the odd goal in nine at home to AFC Blackpool before a fine 2-1 win at Darwen and a 4-2 win at home to Route One Rovers. Their final three games all came with clean sheets, with wins at home to Thornton Cleveleys and Steeton and away at Bacup Borough.

That gave them 33 points from their 11 games for a 3.0 average.

First Division South - Stafford Town

In the First Division South, Alsager Town started with six wins from six games, with New Mills and Winsford United both recording impressive averages. However Club of the Month in this division goes to Stafford Town.

After drawing their first game at Sandbach United, they won their next three at Abbey Hulton United and at home to Stockport Georgians and Wolverhampton Sporting Community. Their only loss in the month then came at Alsager Town who won a 3-2 thriller, before Stafford won their final six games of the month.

They won three times in eight days at home, against Market Drayton Town, Shawbury United and Eccleshall before a 4-1 win at Bilston Town in the FA Vase. They then travelled to Ashville and won 2-1 before a 3-2 home win against Stafford Town in their final game.

That gave them 32 points from their 11 games for a 2.91 average.
