Another weekend, another round of games coming from all 3 divisions of the NWCFL. Let's run through the best and worst of what the last couple of days have had to offer.

Premier Division:

Friday:

  • Just the one match across all three divisions on Friday, but what a match it was! Chadderton played host to AFC Liverpool, but were on the wrong side of a 5-2 result. Both Elliot Taylor and Caleb Jones got two goals for AFC as they got the weekend off to a flyer.

Saturday:

  • It only took 45 minutes for Abbey Hey to know they'd beaten Colne on Saturday. They were 4-0 up at the break, and would eventually win the game 6-0, with Josh Dickin and Jake Forshaw contributing in the second half.
  • Irlam's victory over Charnock Richard at home was slightly less nailed on. After going behind before the break, the hosts clawed it back to lead 3-1, and fended off a late Charnock fightback, which included a Jacob Ridings goal, to win 3-2.
  • Another team that were 4-0 up at half time at the weekend were West Didsbury and Chorlton, and they were away from home, at Longridge Town. Jordan Lazenbury added a hat-trick goal in the second half to help his side see out a 5-1 victory.
  • Padiham were helped along by a Ben Hoskin brace as they put visiting Prestwich Heys to the sword on Saturday. David Sherlock and Jack Price were also on the scoresheet for the hosts in this encounter, which they won 4-1.
  • Pilkington scored a very late goal in their home battle against Lower Breck, but it mattered little, given that Breck had already notched four of their own, with four different players scoring, to secure a dominant 4-1 win.

Other scores:

  • Barnoldswick Town 1-0 Cheadle Town
  • FC Isle of Man 1-1 Bury
  • FC St Helens 2-1 Litherland REMYCA
  • Ramsbottom United 1-1 Glossop North End
  • South Liverpool 0-2 Squires Gate
  • Stockport Town 0-2 Burscough

First Division North:

  • AFC Blackpool secured maximum points in a frantic game against Maghull at home. They were another NWCFL side from the weekend with four different goalscorers to their name, and they overcame their visitors 4-2.
  • Bacup Borough enjoyed a much-needed pick-me-up on Saturday. They've been winless since the first week of August, but battered visiting Garstang 5-0, with Kyle Siddle bagging a brace.
  • There were two penalties scored in the game between Darwen and Holker Old Boys at the former's Multevo Group Anchor Ground. One for each team, but in the end, Holker Old Boys walked away as 4-2 winners.
  • It was another rough weekend for Skelmersdale United, as they welcomed Maine Road to the Community Ground. Both Alex Panter and Aidan Gorre scored twice as the visitors smashed Skem 6-0.
  • Thornton Cleveleys won their second game on the bounce, having been on a 4-match losing streak before that. They hosted high-flying Droylsden and came away with a 3-1 victory.

Other scores:

  • Ashton Athletic 2-1 Steeton
  • Ashton Town 0-0 Atherton LR
  • Daisy Hill 1-0 Route One Rovers
  • Nelson 2-0 Euxton Villa

First Division South:

  • Ashville and Abbey Hulton United spent Saturday afternoon going blow for blow in their game at the Ray Parker Stadium. Eventually, Abbey Hulton did enough to overcome their hosts, edging them out 3-2, despite a late scare via a Josh Maidon goal for Ashville.
  • A potential late fightback by Cheadle Heath Nomads was shut down quickly by Stafford Town at the weekend. Stafford led 2-0 when Matt Cleary scored for Nomads, but Town's Patryk Mazurkiewicz got the last laugh in a 3-1 win.
  • Market Drayton Town's goal worries from last season are well and truly behind them. Foley Meir were the visitors to Greenfields at the weekend, but they were behind after just a minute and were eventually humbled 5-0 by MDT.
  • IT. FINALLY. HAPPENED. Runcorn Town are off the mark for the 2024/25 season! After 11 straight losses in all competitions to start the season, they knocked off Stockport Georgians 3-1 at home to finally get on the board.

Other scores:

  • Allscott Heath 0-1 New Mills
  • Barnton 2-0 Cammell Laird 1907
  • Sandbach United 1-1 Alsager Town
  • Shawbury United 1-1 Eccleshall
  • Wolves Sporting 1-2 Winsford United
