Runcorn Town have announced that they have appointed Chris Jones as their new First Team manager.

A club statement reads: "Chris moves to us from CPD Porthmadog in the Welsh third tier having started this season unbeaten following his appointment in April.

He was previously at Prestatyn Town who he guided to a sixth place finish in Cymru North in 2022/23, following on from a season in which they narrowly avoided relegation before his appointment.

Prior to that he was at AFC Knowsley where he won the Cheshire Football League Division One title, a spell that included a 14-month unbeaten run. He also previously ran the Under 21's at Bootle and was an Academy Coach with Burnley.

Chris has a proven record in both turning around the fortunes of clubs and of competing at the very top of leagues. His coaching qualifications are impressive, having both his UEFA ‘B’ Licence as well as a Coaching & Management Degree.

Speaking of his appointment Chris said "I am more than delighted to be given the opportunity to join Runcorn Town.

"Runcorn have always been competing at the top end of the NWCFL Premier Division and from speaking to the club it is obvious they have ambitions to get back to that position. I cannot wait to get started on what is an exciting project, with the immediate focus on three points in Saturday's game against Wolverhampton Sporting.

"Obviously I have ideas to bring in some of my own lads as I start to rebuild the squad and climb up the league, but I must say that I have been really impressed by the attitude and desire within the squad that I have inherited to make this a successful season".

The club would also like to thank Nathan Steele for his contributions over the last three games as Interim Manager in what has been a difficult period, with much improved performances in his games in charge."
