Whilst on a recent visit to Ashton Town, League Director Martin Fallon was on hand to present Town's James McClenaghan with his Reusch First Division North Goalkeeper of the Month award from January 2024.
James played in 3 games and putting in commanding performances from the back as clarified in the clubs nomination statement at the time. "James is a solid and very experienced goal keeper in supporting our back line and is a very vocal keeper barking out instructions not only to our defence but also to our midfield and forwards! His continued vigilance during spells of none activity are key to him ensuring alertness for key moments of inactivity during a game. James has played in the following 3 matches:- Tuesday 9th January away to Ashton Athletic in a rearranged fixture winning 1-4 in a keenly fought local derby. Saturday 27th January at home to Garstang in yet another rearranged fixture winning 4-1 in a dominant team display. Tuesday 30th January at home to Euxton Villa in a very keenly fought game from both teams near the top of the division with Ashton winning 2-1"
