It was a big day at Adie Moran Park, home of North West Counties Premier Division side Prestwich Heys last Saturday.

Before their opening home game of the season against Burscough they were honoured and privileged to welcome the Worshipful The Mayor of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, Cllr Shaheena Haroon and the Mayoress, Cllr Ayesha Arif, who were joined by Councillor Imran Rizvi to officially open a brand new 100-seater stand, sponsored by Global Auctioneers.

The visit was kindly arranged by the Holyrood ward Councillors Imran Rizvi and Elliot Moss, who are currently working closely with the club to strengthen its involvement with the community.

The Mayor and her party met with club officials, players and fans then declared the stand open by cutting a red ribbon followed by a short speech in which she thanked the sponsors for enabling the new stand to become a reality and the fans and volunteers for their hard work, financial contributions and loyalty.

She finished by wishing the Manager and players all the very best for the upcoming season which clearly came off as Heys went on to a 3-0 win in an entertaining game sending the 202 spectators who turned out home happy.

The stand represents a new era for the club with a new management team of ex Heys players Lee O'Brien and James Hampson who took charge in the summer. One senses that the club are going in a new and exciting direction this season and are eager to welcome new spectators and volunteers to this family club.
