Sandbach United have this week completed the installation of a third defibrillator on the site which provides even more access to the players, members, supporters and passers by on the public Wheelock walking trail.

United have had a defibrillator on site since the site opened 10 years ago in the main building, but as they have grown over the years, they have felt the need to provide one which was accessible in various locations on site and which can be accessed 24 hours a day not just when the clubhouse is open or staff present.

Sandbach Secretary Mike Senior said "We now have two fixed cabinet locations on site containing the portable devices, one attached to the first team pitch side which is also in a place of easy access for the lower playing area, one by the 3G training pitch and a portable one in a carry case inside the building. This ensures that even if we have a failure in one device or a battery issue or await replacement pads we will never sustain a period without at least one working defibrillator on site at any time.

“A few years ago one of our spectators had a heart attack walking home from the game along the Wheelock trail, this highlighted just how close to home these issues can be, and we all know of the heightened risk sustained when playing the game and additional stresses on the heart, so we are pleased to be able to further plug the gap in local coverage in the hope that it can one day help to save a life.”

"It also provides us with the option of taking one of the devices on away games or trips to locations where we know there may not be a device to hand. We would like to thank WEL Medical and the FSIF for their support in providing the latest device."
