August 2021 Player of the Month announced

The Winners of the Player of the Month Awards for August 2021 have been announced this week by the NWCFL.
PREMIER DIVISION
The North West Counties League Premier Division Player of the Month Award for August 2021 has gone to Congleton Town's Tom Pope. (Pictured)
The well known Centre Forward has shown he has lost none of his sharpness or eye for goal since joining Congleton as his overall play and scoring prowess has shone through from their first game of the season. He played in six games in August netting the clubs Man of the Match nomination for five of those. He scored six times in the August fixtures and provided two assists in a period that has seen Congleton amongst the early promotion challengers.
Speaking of Tom's nomination, the club stated "With 5 Man of the Match awards out of a possible 6, the impact of summer signing Tom Pope is self-evident. His
contribution, not least in goals, has helped the Bears to a solid start in the league campaign. Starting with the 1-0 win on the opening day at Longridge Town, the first MOM award came from a continual aerial threat and good link play but this was just a start a Tom began to get back his match sharpness. At Irlam, with the score at 1-0 to the Bears, Tom showed great awareness when seemingly in a harmless position wide on the left and with little support around, chipped the ball perfectly over the 'keeper just inside the far post. Within a minute, he laid on the Bears third with a perfectly weighted through ball for Arron Johns to run on
to and slot past the 'keeper. His display earned the second MOM award.
......His presence has added a clear threat through his strength, experience and match awareness and presents a real aerial threat".

DIVISION ONE NORTH
Golcar United Striker Ashley Flynn has been confirmed as the NWCFL's Division One North Player of the Month for August 2021
Ashley played seven games in August and was nominated as the clubs Man of the Match in four of those games. It's easy to see why too as he scored eleven goals and had four assists for Golcar in a month that has seen them consistently challenging at the top of the table.
In the club's nomination statement, Golcar United added.... "Ash is topping Goal scoring and Man of the Match charts for us. His 11 goals are over half the teams total goals for the month. He has scored and include a 13 min hat-trick vs Nelson. As well as late winners late on in games, he also assisted in our winner at Campion..."
Congratulations to Ashley for a great month of performances.
DIVISION ONE SOUTH
The winner of the August 2021 Player of the Month Award for Division One South goes to Benito Lowe of New Mills AFC.
The Central midfielder played in seven games in August, picking up the man of the match nomination in four of this games. As well as a string of solid performances which guided his club to the top of the table, Benito scored eight goals with a few assists in the mix as well.
In their nomination for the award Beintos club state "Since joining the club Benito Lowe has played in pretty much every position on the pitch, including goalkeeper, and impressed in them all. This season he has settled into an attacking midfield role......"
They also add "His Hat-trick against Stockport Town is the finest seen at Church Lane in many, many years. The first a 25 yard thunderbolt, the second a deft
curling effort from outside the area and the third a wonderful individual effort as he ran half the length of the pitch, rounding several defenders before slotting past the goalkeeper. August has undoubtedly been the finest month of Benito's Church Lane career, he made his 50th appearance for the club against St Martins and celebrated in style by scoring twice and collecting the Man of the Match award."
Congratulations to Benito, a few reasons to celebrate it seems!
