NWCFL Premier Division

Longridge Town 1-0 Skelmersdale United

Skelmersdale United manager Paul McNally, "I thought our performance was good enough to get a result but Longridge is an excellent team who play football the right way so to keep them out for 90 mins was a tough ask.

"I am happy with the lads and how we are progressing, on another day we could have won as we had big chances at vital moments in the game but it wasn’t to be and we take the positives and look to our next game against another tough opponent. We wish Longridge all the best for the season."

Squires Gate 2-1 Congleton Town

Squires Gate manager Luke Evans, "Over the moon with another win. We felt we were good enough for all three points but with them picking up an equaliser in the final minutes we showed great character to nick it with the last kick.

"We are starting to show our best form and we are looking forward to each game."

Irlam 1-0 Winsford United

Irlam manager Michael Dodd, "Today was all about getting the three points and moving forward. We knew that Winsford would pose a serious threat and I have to say I was impressed by them. They have individuals who can turn the game on its head and they worked very hard as a group. They will do well if they play like that all year.

"We hoped that our quality would see us through over 90 minutes and it did make the difference in the end; a brilliant bit of movement from Callum Nicholas saw him wriggle free and cross for Jordan Icely to head into the top corner. A solid team performance again, heading into Tuesday's massive game at home against Bootle."

Winsford United manager Lee Duckworth, "Difficult to control a game and come away with nothing. Fair play to Irlam who had two shots on target but were clinical.

Charnock Richard 2-2 Northwich Victoria

Northwich Victoria manager Steve Wilkes, "I am disappointed to once again let a two-goal lead slip. I can't fault my players as it was an error by the liner. We've watched the video back and the lad is three yards offside when he scores.

"That's the third time an offside decision has gone against us recently, but we go again Tuesday at home to Winsford."

Barnoldswick Town 4-2 Burscough

Barnoldswick Town manager Endrit Shehu, "An outstanding performance today from my players. We dominated the game from the first minute until the last. First half we played really well but Burscough scored first against the run of play. Managed to score the equaliser just before the end for the halve which helped us push onto the second half.

"Second half played some great football and created loads of goal scoring opportunities which we took them well. It has been a good week with seven points from the last three games and needs to take this opportunity to move up the league. Hopefully can build on and take another positive result on Saturday again Winsford."

Cleator Moor Celtic 3-1 Daisy Hill

Daisy Hill manager Brian Hart, "It has been a tough week on the back of two back to back wins losing 18 players to injury and work. Played Emley in the cup on Wednesday with ten men and no keeper after a car broke down with three players in and never got there. Today, we had 13, with a couple signing on last minute.

"In saying that credit to the players today if we had taken our chances the result would have been ours. Hopefully, we'll get a few back for Monday for Prestwich."

Nelson 3-1 Ashton Town

Nelson manager Andy Harrison, "An extremely entertaining game that had absolutely everything. We've come a long way since the last time we played Ashton Town where we got walloped 5-0 back in September. Very proud of my lads today a thoroughly professional performance in tough conditions.

"Nice to see us in the top 6 this evening, and who knows maybe a promotion push in the new year? This group are special. All the best to Ashton and my mate Dave for the rest of the season - I hope we didn't ruin your Christmas do too much."

Steeton 1-1 Atherton LR

Atherton LR manager Mark Robinson, "Another frustrating game where we were below par. As a group, we have higher expectations for our performances than how we have played in our last couple of games.

"The frustration with this needs to be channelled in the right way, today it got the better of us. Credit to Steeton played like a team that isn't bottom of the table."

NWCFL First Division South
Cammell Laird 1907 3-1 Abbey Hulton United

Cammell Laird 1907 manager Phil Burton, "Delighted to get a convincing win only frustration is it should have been more.

"First 20 minutes we were excellent and that's what we are capable of. They got a goal towards the end of the half and then controlled for a spell.

"Second half we controlled the game and got the fully deserved three points. Fair play to Abbey Hulton to kept going to the end."

Abbey Hulton United manager Russell Leadbetter, "Not a great performance from us today, we started slow and didn't get out of the blocks and struggled to get going. We were forced to make three key changes which in my opinion showed on the day.

"All in all Cammell Laird deserve the win as they took their chances, and we didn't take ours. We go again Tuesday when we need to bounce back with another win at home."

Stone Old Alleynians 4-1 Cheadle Heath Nomads

Cheadle Heath Nomads manager Andy Gray, "All credit to Stone, they play well to their strengths and in the end could have scored a few more second halves. The first half I thought we were every bit as good, if not better than them, but they took their chances and we went in 2-1 down. A lot was happening out of our control second half and the Stone lads benefitted and took the advantage.

"Credit to them and as I said, they could have scored a lot more and our lads need to learn from that experience if we're to get anything out of the game at Oswestry on Tuesday night."

Stockport Town 2-2 Eccleshall

Stockport Town manager Adam Jones, "Feels like a loss. We didn't start very well and they took a deserved lead. Rest of the first half was a bit scrappy. I told a few home truths at half time and I got a reaction and we took a deserved lead after two goals, but then we have to be better at managing games and it's little details that are letting us down.

"Eccleshall is up there and celebrated at the end so it shows how far we've come and we will continue to improve."

Eccleshall manager Kyle Adams, "A strange one to reflect on today as the first half we got the goal and managed the game very well. Coming in ahead at half time you just want to go out and carry on doing the things that have worked in the first 45. But credit to Stockport, they came out having changed a couple of things and we never really got going second half if we're honest.

"They got a couple of goals to turn it around and we can be disappointed with how both were conceded. That said, the lads showed great character not for the first time this season and dug in for Louis to grab the leveller.

"In the end, we've got to be happy with a point against a side who will hurt teams given the quality they've got now."
