Four new clubs have been welcomed into the NWCFL for the 2019/20 season - and we look a little into their history and where they have come from.
First up is Skelmersdale United who were relegated from the Northern Premier League. Originally Lancashire's Skem was one of the founding members of the NWCFL in 1982-83. In 1986 they were promoted to the NWCFL Division One. After a nine-year stay, they were relegated to Division Two but bounced back two seasons later.
From then, they went from strength to strength and eventually were promoted to the Northern Premier League Division One in 2006 following a second-place finish in the NWCFL top flight.
After flirting with promotion to Step 3 for a number of the season (three play-off finals losses), Skem won promotion in 2012 to the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
There stay lasted four seasons, before relegation in 2016-17, then again last season back to the NWCFL.
