Four Northwich Villa players escaped unscathed from a car accident while travelling to their match against Formby on Saturday.
The four were en route to Altcar Road when they were involved in an accident, and Villa Secretary Ray Small is happy to report that all are OK.
“The players travelling together to the match were involved in an accident, and I'm pleased to say none were injured”, he said. “However, as a result they did not make the game as the car needed to be recovered, and by the time all the necessary accident formalities were completed, it was too late for them to make the game.
“Unfortunately this coincided with a fixture where we were struggling with player numbers due to work and other commitments, and consequently the result ended more like a cricket score. But the lads who played still put a shift in, which was warmly applauded by the Formby players and fans at full time and much appreciated by my players”.
