Weekend 4 in the NWCFL saw clubs in the Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round, with action also in all three divisions of the league.

Emirates FA Cup

We have five teams through to the First Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup following Tuesday night's replays.

We were guaranteed two sides through thanks to all-NWCFL ties and it was the away sides who came out on top. Atherton LR won 2-0 at FC St Helens with Chadderton winning 1-0 at Irlam. Longridge Town romped to the biggest win with Liam Atkinson scoring a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Emley. West Didsbury joined them in the next round with a 1-0 win over Brighouse Town.

Padiham lost 3-0 at Congleton Town with AFC Liverpool going down 4-1 at Witton Albion. Rambottom United fell to Silsden at the final hurdle in a replay on Tuesday night; goals for the NPL East side in the 93rd and 95th minute took the game to extra time before Silsden won in a penalty shootout. This came after the Rams themselves grabbed a late equaliser in the original tie on Saturday. Wythenshawe beat Vauxhall Motors at the second attempt, coming out 2-0 winners at the vanEupen Arena on Tuesday night. The original matchup was abandoned on 90 minute with Vauxhall leading 3-2, the FA ordering the fixture to be replayed in full.

Premier Division

In the Premier Division there were five games with all ending in victories. South Liverpool won 6-1 at Pilkington in the days biggest win, Neil Weaver scoring a hat-trick, with Barnoldswick Town and FC Isle of Man both also winning away.

Burscough are up to second after a 3-0 win over Litherland REMYCA, with Stockport Town overcoming Stockport Town 2-1.

First Division North

The story of the day in the North was at Garstang, where Fulwood Amateurs won 7-1 with Spencer Lucas scoring SIX of the goals! Maghull beat Nelson 5-1 with all their goals coming in the first half, whilst Maine Road beat Ashton Athletic 4-0.

There were 2-0 wins for Droylsden at home to Squires Gate and Steeton at Thornton Cleveleys. Darwen won 2-1 at Holker Old Boys whilst MSB Woolton claimed their first NWCFL points with a 2-2 draw at home to Daisy Hill.

First Division South

Newboys Telford Town are top of the South after another great win, this time 4-1 at home to Cheadle Heath Nomads. Eccleshall won 5-0 at Shawbury United with Ashville winning 3-0 at Market Drayton Town.

Alsager Town and Barnton both scored four goals at home with Alsager beating Haughmond 4-3 and Barnton overoming Wolverhampton Casuals 4-2. Luke Nicholls scored a hat-trick for Alsager. Stockport Georgians and Allscott drew 3-3, with Allscott going ahead 3-2 in the 89th minute before Stockport levelled four minutes into stoppage time.

Cammell Laird 1907 and Foley Meir played out a five goal thriller with Lairds edging it by the odd goal. Two late goals saw Sandbach United end the 100% start by Runcorn Town, that ending 2-1. And it was the same scoreline at Wolverhampton Sporting Community who came from behind to beat New Mills.
