Nelson FC have announced the appointment of Mark Fell as their new first team manager.

Fell leaves West Lancashire League club Whinney Hill, whom he guided to the top of the West Lancashire League Division 2, and claimed the October West Lancashire League manager of the month award.

He is currently Head of Sport at Accrington & Rossendale College, and holds a UEFA A licence. He has coached previously at Preston North End's Centre of Excellence and at Accrington Stanley, and also had a stint as Paul Lodge's assistant at Chorley.

Mark will also be bringing Tim Breaker to Nelson as his assistant. Breaker holds a UEFA B licence and is a former youth team coach at Accrington Stanley. He is now working at Rochdale's Academy.

Admirals’ chairman Fayyaz Ahmed said: “We received 24 applications in space of a week for the vacant position, and interviewed a number of strong candidates. However, we believe that Mark is a great choice for the club”.

Mark Fell said: "I would like to thank the club for this opportunity, and I am honoured to have been appointed manager of Nelson FC”.
