EMIRATES FA CUP
Two of our sides were in Emirates FA Cup action this afternoon and we are now down to one in the competition, with Trafford our only remaining side after today's results.
Trafford won 2-1 at Northern Premier League side Heaton Stannington. The Manchester side had the better of the first half and went in at the break ahead after Kyle Worsley scored three minutes into added on time at the end of the first half.
Stannington were level midway through the second half as Max Storey scored at the second attempt after Connor Beard saved his first effort. However Trafford regained the lead on 75 minutes from the penalty spot, Brad Burn the man to score it. It could have been more in stoppage time but for the home keepers heroics, with Trafford seeing the game out to progress.
South Liverpool were defeated 3-0 away at Northern Premier League side Warrington Town. It was a goalless forest half with visiting goalkeeper Dominic Garner keeping his side in the game with a number of key stops. South had a huge penalty shout in the first half though as Neil Weaver looked to have been brought down but the referee waved play on.
Reece Daley put Warrington ahead after 67 minutes at the second attempt after his first effort hit the post, before two goals in three minutes put the game beyond South. Callum Edwards added a second on 72 minutes when he broke through and slotted home, and it was three just two minutes later as he got on the end of a free kick and lifted it over the keeper.
PREMIER DIVISION
Droylsden remain top of the Premier Division after a 3-0 win over Preswich Heys. It was the perfect start for the Bloods with Nellson Van putting them ahead after just two minutes and Jordan Barnett adding a second seven minutes later. The Butchers Arms faithful had to wait until 15 minutes from time for another goal, that being an own goal to complete the scoring.
Nelson remain a point behind after a 3-2 away win at Euxton Villa, that their fifth win from their last six games. Sean Ince put them ahead from the penalty spot on nine minutes, with Euxton turning things around and leading after 28 minutes, Ben Pendlebury with a brace. Andrew Hill levelled for the Admirals midway through the second half, with Sefton Gonzales sealing the win on 73 minutes.
Atherton LR are third, second half goals from Cal Hunter and Joe Bacon giving them a 2-0 win over Litherland REMYCA. A point behind them are Burscough who were without a game, with Chadderton in fifth. They failed to capitalise on Burscough's open date as they lost 2-1 at home to Ramsbottom United. Jack Donlan and Rowan Chambers put Rammy two ahead after just 16 minutes, Chaddy only able to find a consolation through Darren McKnight at the start of the second half.
The biggest win of the day came from Longridge Town who won 6-1 at home to Abbey Hey. There were five different goalscorers there with Oliver Hodgson grabbing the final two goals of the game. Also with a double was Daniel Dolling who scored the first and last goals for Irlam as they recorded a superb 3-0 win at Glossop North End.
The final game saw AFC Liverpool make it ten successive losses as they went down 3-0 at Barnoldswick Town, Kuda Chingwaro with the first and last goals there.
FC Isle of Man play Charnock Richard in the late game (6.00pm KO).
FIRST DIVISION NORTH
Maghull made it ten wins from twelve games with a 2-0 win over Fulwood Amateurs to retain their top spot in the division. They left it late though with the score goalless with 20 minutes remaining when Jacob Till scored. Sam Smith added a second for Maghull four minutes into stoppage time.
Cammell Laird 1907 are hot on their heels after a 2-1 win over Uppermill, all the goals there coming in a nine minute spell in the first half. Fenton Cavanagh put them ahead on 25 minutes with Uppermill levelling, only for John Lyon to score what proved the winner.
Flixton have climbed to third after a 3-1 win at Garstang. It was goalless at the break before Lewis-Simon Byrne hit a hat-trick in the second half, Garstang getting a consolation in stoppage time. And Thornton Cleveleys are fourth after recording the biggest win in the division of the day, Joshua Winder scoring twice in a 5-0 win at home to AFC Knowsley.
Holker Old Boys are fifth after winning 2-1 at AFC Blackpool, Tyler Spence scoring the winner in the last minute of the game. Ashville won 3-2 at Ashton Town, two of Ashville's goals coming in the final ten minutes. And Woolton won 2-1 at Bacup Borough with both Woolton goals coming in the first 11 minutes.
Steeton won 4-2 at home to Ashton Athletic, any latecomers rueing their decision with three goals coming in the opening eight minutes! Halewood Apollo's first home game in the NWCFL ended in defeat with Squires Gate winning 2-1 there. And Colne won 1-0 at Daisy Hill.
FIRST DIVISION SOUTH
Sandbach United are the new leaders in the First Division South after a 2-0 home win against Eccleshall. Joshua Fowles put them into an early lead after 12 minutes, with Kyle Foley securing the win four minutes from time. They are two points clear of Stafford Town who drew 3-3 at Cheadle Heath Nomads in a topsy turvy game. Cheadle opened the scoring on 22 minutes with Stafford turning things around to lead 2-1 at the break. Cheadle then hit back to take the lead before Patryk Mazurkiewicz found the net with his second of the game seven minutes from time.
AFC Bridgnorth's nine game unbeaten run came to an end at Brereton Social, an own goal just before the half hour proving the difference. Bridgnorth are three points off the pace but do have two games in hand. Wolverhampton Casuals are fourth after a 3-1 win at Shawbury United, with Eccleshall in fifth.
Biggest win of the day in the division came from Allscott Heath who recorded a fine 4-1 win over Alsager Town. Also winning by three goals at home was Bilston Town as they beat Market Drayton Town 3-0.
Barnton recorded an excellent 2-0 away win at Telford Town, with Dawley Town also winning on the road as they won 2-1 at New Mills. Wednesfield Community were another to have a fruitful away day as they won 1-0 at Crewe, the winning goal being a Rio Tetsell penalty in the last minute.
