City of Liverpool FC have today announced that they are to play their 2025/26 and 2026/27 home fixtures at Burscough's Community Stadium.
The 'Purps', recently relegated from the Northern Premier League Division One West, have called the DCBL Stadium in Widnes their home for the past 12 months. They had played at Bootle's Berry Street Garage Stadium throughout their previous tenure in the League between 2016 and 2019.
Their first game in L40 will be their Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie against Euxton Villa on Saturday 2nd August, followed a week later by a league fixture against Atherton LR - the first match between the pair since 2017.
As The Football Association have approved the late change of venue for City of Liverpool, League Chairman Chris Stirrup stated "It’s pleasing to see Member Clubs helping each other out and we as a League, wish both Clubs the best of luck with this new venture with thanks to The Football Association for their support in this matter"
The two Clubs have released a joint statement on the deal which we have reproduced below:
"City of Liverpool FC and Burscough FC can confirm that they have entered into an agreement for The Purps to play at The Community Ground, Burscough for Seasons 25/26 & 26/27.
Paul Gilchrist, Chairman at Burscough FC said “We look forward to welcoming City of Liverpool FC to the Community Ground. I’m confident that the Committee, Members, Supporters and players alike will enjoy the fantastic facilities we have on offer. We’re excited to make them feel truly welcome and at home.”
On behalf of the Board of Directors at COLFC, Chairman Paul Manning said “We are delighted to play at the Community Ground and look forward to working with Paul & his team at Burscough FC. We’d like to thank Bruce and his colleagues at DCBL Stadium for their help and the Committee at NWCFL for allowing us to make this move so close to the Season starting. Our first game at our new home is on Sat 2nd August against Euxton Villa in the FA Cup. There is a new bar with a balcony overlooking the pitch, a food outlet and plenty of space to watch the games. Burscough is a good facility and the town itself has many watering holes and food outlets for supporters to enjoy, before and after the games.”
Here’s to a strong partnership and a bright future for two clubs with proud histories and passionate supporters."
