Maine Road Football Club are inviting applicants for a new chairman ahead of the 2025/26 season. In addition, they are also welcoming volunteers to join the clubs committee as the club begins an exciting new chapter in its history.

Existing Chairman Ian King, who will remain with the club in an alternate capacity, said “We are a club that is renowned for its focus on youth development and supporting young Mancunian players and their progression through the non-league pyramid.”

Formed 70 years ago initially by The Rusholme Manchester City Supporters Club, the club takes its name from the Maine Road Social Club in Moss Side, its former base, and still enjoys strong links with the Premier League club today.

“In addition to seeing many players launch their professional careers at Brantingham Road we’ve enjoyed a rich history, playing at Step 5 of the non-league pyramid as NWCFL members since 1987 and were Premier Division runners-up in 2013.  Additionally, we’ve enjoyed cup success as winning the Manchester Premier Cup six times and the North West Counties League Cup in 2013.”

With the first team currently playing in the NWCFL Division One North, they also field a reserve team in the Cheshire League and enjoy strong links with local youth and junior football clubs in the area.

King added; “The opportunity to join our club at this team represents an exciting opportunity to drive the next stage of evolution for the Club.”
