After a moderately successful season at Alsager Town that saw the club finish 12th in the NWCFL First Division South and reach a Macron Cup semi-final, managerial duo Dean Jones and Dom Johnson have left the club and found a new home at Winsford United.
Alsager confirmed the news on April 30th, that their joint managers would be leaving the club for their league competitors, and, since then, Winsford United have put out their own press release confirming the appointment.
"This club is a sleeping giant," said Dean Jones upon the announcement of the pair’s arrival at Barton Stadium. "We are delighted to have the opportunity to be the management team who can wake it up and bring real pride back to our hometown football club. I hope the town can get behind us and be a part of this exciting next chapter."
Dom Johnson spoke further on the appointment, saying that "the main selling point for coming to Winsford United was the vision from the new board and committee to improve the club and facilities which will work alongside the results on the pitch."
After accepting voluntary relegation to the First Division South in order to stay in the NWCFL before last season, Winsford finished the 2023/24 campaign in 17th, but will avoid relegation by a reprieve. Dean and Dom will be hoping to take the club back to the Premier Division as soon as they can.
Best of luck, guys!
