Congleton Town made bit of history on Thursday evening by securing the Cheshire Senior Cup courtesy of a Penalty Shoot out win over National League Altrincham.

The Bears gave as good as they got in an antertaining football game, going ahead on 11 Minutes courtesy of Dan Needham but were pegged back on 39 minutes courtesy of a goal from Jordan Hulme.  Just before the half time break an own goal put Congleton back in front to the delight of the 3-400 strong travelling support.  In the second half both teams were keen to secure the game and it was Altrincham who scored next on 8- minutes, Jordan Hulme grabbing his second of the evening to level the game to the delight of the home crowd, and that was the way it stayed to the end of the 90 minutes.

The Penalty shoot-out was just as dramatic as the game with Congleton scoring all four of their penalties, Alty missing two to secure Congleton the silverware.  It is the third time Congleton have won the trophy, but the first time since 1938!
