Ellesmere Rangers have successfully installed new floodlights after receiving a grant from The Football Foundation which covered 70% of the total costs.
With their old floodlights proving costly to run- each of the 16 existing bulbs were priced at £200 as well as a cherrypicker requiring £450 to install them- the Shropshire club entered a competition run by The Non-League Paper with a first prize of new floodlights being installed.
Despite not being successful, The Meresiders received £2000 by entering and applied to The Football Foundation for a grant. The process required Ellesmere to complete a structural report on the stantions and an electrical report for the switch gear and wiring, which were both produced and the club were successful with their application.
