Connor thrilled but certainly won't get carried away

Having won four from their five games in January, Golcar United were awarded the Macron NWCFL First Division North club of the month on Wednesday following their successes.
Joint manager Ashley Connor was obviously delighted to bag the award, "This is a great accolade for our club, it’s no secret that our club has had some tough times recently and recognition like this make it worthwhile."
The year started off with a slender defeat to Prestwich Heys, but since then, the West Yorkshire outfit have not looked back, winning their remaining four fixtures - scoring an impressive 18 goals in the process.

"The team have been brilliant throughout January and we’ve had a great month", Connor continued. "It’s been nice to build a bit of momentum recently as our season up to Christmas was very frustrating.
"The players have been superb all season and commitment have been first class, especially when games have been off. I and Gav (Connor - joint manager) are really pleased for our committee members and supporters as the support we’ve received so far have been brilliant.
"Recognition like this is great but we won’t be getting carried away."
Golcar's next game is on Saturday when they face the 318-mile round trip to the NWCFL's most Northern side Cleator Moor Celtic.
