New ground announcement at Burscough

Burscough have announced the latest development in their plan to build a new stadium adjacent to their present home at Victoria Park.
Planning permission has now been granted for the new development and a 2019 programme of works is about to commence.
Football Club President Rod Cottam and Treasurer Stuart Heaps were joined by supporters, Match Day Volunteers, Club Secretary Steve Halliwell, Director of Football and First Team manager Dave Sutton, and Director of Finance Martin Gilchrist after being invited to ‘Break Ground’ at the site of the club’s new stadium.
Mike Swift, Chairman of Burscough FC said:
"This important milestone in the club’s long and proud heritage has been achieved following the grant of planning consent, obtaining the site and assembling the finance for a significant construction project.
"To achieve delivery of the village’s new forward looking facility, the existing pitch at Victoria Park has been altered with FA ratification. This will facilitate the essential service highway as the new stadium must be constructed, graded and commissioned before The Linnets 2019/20 fixtures transfer.
"As the new season fast approaches, the well used grass playing surface is being cared for with summer break and growing season maintenance by specialist contractors.
"Work on the final fittings for the new stadium are being supervised by the retained and experienced architects, with a working party of club supporters who were briefed after the club's recent AGM.
"High on the working party’s agenda is the new stadium’s playing surface, grass or artificial at the best possible grade. Study tour visits to other recently commissioned stadia are in process".
