Runcorn Linnets - Premier Division champions

Runcorn Linnets clinched the Premier Division title in style with a 5-0 win over Squires Gate at the Millbank Linnets Stadium on Thursday night.
After clinching a promotion place last weekend, Linnets went into the game knowing that a win would seal the title, and in front of one of their biggest gates of the season, Matthew Atherton settled early nerves when he gave Linnets a 14th minute lead.
Freddie Potter doubled their advantage eight minutes before half time, and added a second midway through the second half. Goals in the last seven minutes from Antony Hickey and Christopher Lawton rounded off a memorable night for Linnets, who now move up into the Evo-Stik League as champions.
Linnets Chairman Mark Buckley said: "I'm extremely chuffed for everyone involved with Runcorn Linnets - to be crowned Hallmark Security League champions in what has been an extremely challenging year off the field is a massive testament to the work of all the management team, players, volunteers and fans.
"It has been a fantastic journey for us since we were accepted into the North West Counties Football League immediately after our formation 12 years ago and I'd like to thank all the clubs and members of the management committee who have been so helpful and friendly along the way.
"It's an extremely exciting time for us now as we look forward to the next chapter in our story".
Linnets will now be presented with the championship trophy on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon, at the end of the derby clash with Runcorn Town at the Millbank Linnets stadium.
