Barnton Celebrate 80 Years
Thu 8th October 2026 | Barnton | By Martin Fallon
Barnton AFC is celebrating a very special milestone this weekend, 80 years of football in the village. They are inviting the whole Barnton community to join them at their home game with Dawley Town for what promises to be a truly memorable day.
The club are especially inviting all former players, managers and everyone who has played a part in the history of Barnton football to come along, reunite with old friends and help them celebrate eight decades of memories.
Football has always been about much more than what happens on the pitch. For generations, Barnton has brought families, friends and the wider community together, giving people of all ages the opportunity to play, support, volunteer and simply enjoy the beautiful game.
There have been far too many fantastic memories, characters and stories over the past 80 years to mention them all, but now it’s time to celebrate their history and, most importantly, make sure football in Barnton continues for another 80 years and beyond.
To mark the occasion, Barnton AFC will wear a special red third kit, inspired by the club’s original colours from 1946.
Barnton Juniors will be the mascots, representing the next generation and the future of the club.
There will be plenty happening throughout the day, with the bar open from 1pm, the kitchen serving food, plus a Cheshire Dough pizza van and MerryFall Cakes on site.
Kick off is at 3.00pm.
Whether you wore the famous black and white, pulled on a Barnton shirt many years ago, stood on the sidelines as a manager, coach, volunteer or supporter, or are part of the Barnton football family today, the club want you there.&
Come along, show your support and help the club celebrate their 80th birthday on a day to remember.
80 YEARS. ONE CLUB. ONE COMMUNITY.
