Lorraine Beavers, Labour for Blackpool North and Fleetwood, visited Gamble Road to find out more about developments at Thornton Cleveleys and met with club chairman Steve Abbott.

The fact-finding mission centred on the work of the club around community involvement, juniors setup, senior and women's football. Along with developments on, and off, the pitch.

Mrs Beavers was shown around the club facilities including the Salthouse Bar which has just had planning permission for an extension to the room size.

The Member of Parliament for for Blackpool North and Fleetwood was pleased with her introduction to the club.

"I'd just like to say it's amazing, the community must love this area as you've done so much. I can't believe how many pitches you have and the work you do in the community.  I think this area of Thornton is very lucky to have you here.

"It's been a real inspiration to talk people who care for the community and the club itself. I can't wait to visit again. Thank you very much for inviting me today."

Chairman Steve Abbott thanked the MP for visiting.

"It was a great today to have a catchup with Lorraine Beavers, our local MP.   It was good that she made the time to come along and have a look round. She was very impressed with what we are doing for the local community and how many children and adults we have involved with the club.  We also spoke about our journey into supporting disability football at the club.

"Lorraine was very happy with our impact on the local area and is happy to work with us on future projects. It was a very worthwhile visit. She was impressed with what we are doing for the local area including Thornton-Cleveleys and Fleetwood. Hopefully, our relationship will long continue."
