In their first full season at the helm, the duo of Darren Moore and Liam Page have won the Managers of the Year for the First Division South after winning the league title with Runcorn Town. Martin Fallon, League Director but also kitman at Runcorn, presented them with their awards on Saturday night.

They took over at the start of last season, guiding Runcorn to survival after they lost the first 11 games of the season. Having finished the season strongly, they added a few players in the summer and headed into this season with the PlayOff’s as the aim.

They won four of five league games in August, with one loss to Sandbach United. Incredibly that was their only defeat in the league, and they went through the season unbeaten away from home.

Without recapping the season in full, they were dominant in pretty much every month of the season, ending the campaign having won five Club of the Month awards. They set several club records along the way, including biggest league win as they defeated Telford Town 12-0 and Most Successive Wins with an incredible 20 in all competitions.

As well as the league, they won the First Division Champions Cup and Edward Case Cup, as well as reaching the Cheshire Senior Cup Final and Liverpool Cup Semi Finals.

Speaking of the win, the duo said “We are both absolutely over the moon to receive this award.

“It’s been an incredible season at Runcorn Town, and we’ve loved every minute of it. To be named Managers of the Year really is the perfect way to top off such a special season for us both.

“A huge thank you, and a lot of credit, must also go to our coaching staff — Dean Kennington, Nick Harland, Alan Knell, Dean Smith as well as Martin.

“They’re a brilliant group of lads who have contributed massively to the success we’ve had this year, and we genuinely couldn’t have done it without them.

“Thank you very much, we really appreciate it!”
